Passioned by surf, woodwork and fishing, Carlo Motta started his work in 1970 doing objects made by wood that he collected on the beaches of São Paulo state.
In 1975, at Architecture University, he created some furniture prototypes. At the same year, in a small carpentry workshop in Vila Madalena, São Paulo, he created his first chairs and armchairs. In 1976, he moved to California, to study carpentry and constructive technics.
He moved back to Sao Paulo in 1978 and opened his workshop in Vila Madalena. His aim was to create furniture, objects, sculptures and architecture works that brought the smallest possible environmental impact. With this goal, he created some pieces with wood from fallen and wood certified by F.S.C. From 1980 to 1990 he consolidated his architecture and design office, developing prototypes of furniture and special works. In 1994 he moved back to California, where he lived for a year. Since that, he raised the distribution of his work in Brazil, United States and Europe.
